A potentiometer is a resistive component with a wiper which divides a long resistor element into 2 parts. As the wiper moves along the resistor element the voltage on the wiper changes based on Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law. This voltage is read on one of the analog inputs of the Pico Controller.
A 10kΩ pot can provide a varying voltage to the controller. Ohms Law can be used to determine the current through the Pot.
Using the analogRead() command this voltage is returned as a value from 0 to 1023. For these pot voltages the analog reading would be:
