02 - Board Hardware

Display

The 2.4 inch TFT Display has three separate functions built in. A 320 x 240 pixel color display, a touch sensor and a SD Card.  Each of these operate on a separate SPI port.

Display

The color display is driven by a ILI9341 driver.  The current library supported for the board is a powerful and full featured library by Bodmer.  A detailed description of the functions and capabilities of the library are covered in the document Display Library TFT_eSPI.

Touch Sensor

The touch sensor for the display is resistive film covering the screen.  This sensor is can identify touch anywhere on the screen with the same resolution.  This sensor must be calibrated separately for each of the 4 rotation orientations of the display.  Please use caution when touching the display with metal or hard objects.  The film is easily damaged.

SD Card

The SD Card is a removable storage device which can be used to hold data used by your program and as such can be easily removed and replaced another data set.  The SD Card can also be used for storing data the program logs and can be removed for analysis elsewhere.  Large files such as images can be stored on the card to be used with the display or a database application.
